The VRE / RIC (Research Information Centre) is a dynamic, evolving virtual research environment framework being developed by the open source community that includes Microsoft Research, British Library, La Trobe University (Australia), University of Calgary (Canada), University of Otago (New Zealand) and many other academic institutions around the world. The VRE / RIC extends the core SharePoint 2010 functionalities to help researchers manage the increasingly complex range of tasks involved in carrying out research.
