    Softedge Recent Achievements
  • Small Business Specialist

  • BizSpark Network Partner and WebsiteSpark Network Partner

  • We are working with Microsoft Research and the British Library to extend and enhance the Microsoft Research Information Centre for SharePoint 2010 and have deployed it for Humanities researchers in Trinity College Dublin

  • The concept of the Research Information Centre RIC initiated within the Science Technology & Medicine (STM) team within eIS.

  • Discussions between the STM team and the Microsoft Technology Centre identified:

There is no single environment available to scientific researchers that allowed them to access and manage all aspects of their work.

Individuals and groups of researchers have access to content, tools and other resources such as people and organisations via many disparate and unstructured means.

Studies have indicated that a single, static product is not the solution. A dynamic, evolving framework that supports a network of interconnected hosted services and local installations, underpinned by a pool of shared resources, would appear to be a better approach.

The key to making the RIC viable are the shared resources - the metadata, the content and the tools - that underpin the research environment. These not only include text-based material, but also new types of content such as datasets, computational models and images and the tools needed to mine, manipulate, analyse and visualise them. No-one organisation could hope to develop such content in isolation - the breadth of the concept requires a community effort on a global stage.

  • We work with Microsoft to evangelise and train other ISVs on the Azure platform. Softedge has been invited to speak a number of times, and delivered a series of hands-on labs around Ireland in June 2010

  • The games developed by us are in Windows Phone 7 Market Place.
